Aligning Communication : Sharing vs Shaping

It is tempting in the current climate to default to social media and electronic communication as our main way of influencing our colleagues and customers; Whilst these forms of communication have now a firm place in our daily lives we should not under estimate the use of other forms of communication.

Moreover we should spend just a little time before we start the process of communicating with customers and colleagues determining what it is we are trying to achieve, what outcome we wish and then and only then, put pen to paper or fingers to keyboards or decide that actually what is needed is a phone call or a face to face discussion.

It is no surprise that Facebook live is gaining popularity; even in this day and age the best way to actually influence people is some form of face to face contact where you are able to gauge reaction based on body language, tone and message.
